Group Workouts on Zwift

Group workouts can be more motivating and social than working out on your own, as well as provide you with more accountability for getting on the bike.  With the introduction of virtual cycling platforms you can train in a much more targeted way.  Dutch Diesel Cycling has brought the group workout into the virtual world on Zwift.  Our group workouts use the rubber band concept to keep everyone together and you will do the same workout as everyone else, but at your own ability based on your personal FTP.  We have a Discord voice channel open if you want to listen to the instructions of the coach, or you can just listen to your music and see instructions on screen in the Zwift app.

How to join a group workout

Our coach led group workouts are all done on in the Zwift platform, so you need to be subscribed to Zwift to participate.  Each month there will be a separate theme, for example VO2 Max, sprinting, muscular endurance, etc.  Currently these workouts are scheduled for each Wednesday at 6:30 PM Pacific, but we can add sessions based on demand.  If you want to join our upcoming session, purchase and download the file on this page and follow these instructions.

First-time users register here before downloading the workout

If this is your first time joining one of our group workouts, please fill out our quick registration at the link above. After you register, you will be redirected back to the page you are on now.  You can then follow instructions below to download the workout.

Before the workout

  1. Click on 'Download Workout' button (first-time users register before this step)

  2. Click on the cart and proceed with the PayPal payment process.

  3. When purchase is complete, you will receive an email with the download link.

  4. If you don't see an email, please check your spam folder.

  5. Download and unzip the file which should now have a .zwo extension.

  6. Copy the file to your Zwift workout directory following these instructions.

  7. You will receive an invite to the Zwift Group Workout Meet Up before Wednesday's scheduled session.

  8. RSVP to the Meet Up and you will be placed in the meet up 15 minutes before the start.

Joining the workout

  1.  Launch the Zwift application on your device and enter one of the worlds.

  2.  Five minutes prior you will be prompted to join the Meet Up.  Click to join.

  3. When in the Meet Up, click on menu and find the workout option to select your workout.

  4. Select the workout that you downloaded for this session.

  5. You can join Discord if you want to chat and listen to the coaching tips.

  6. Enjoy the workout.
